Ribbon-cut
Ribbon-cut is when paper is shredded into long strips.
Confetti-cut
Confetti-cut is when paper is shredded into small pieces, which is more secure than standard ribbon-cut. Confetti-cut waste compacts under its own weight allowing the bin to be emptied less often.
DIN Standard security levels
The DIN Standard is a European classification of security levels. These security levels are split into S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5. All manufacturers use the DIN security levels to define the security of their shredders. S1 is the lowest and S5 is the highest level of security.
S1
S1 is the first shredder DIN Standard security level and offers a low level of security.
S2
S2 is the second shredder DIN Standard security level and offers a low to medium level of security.
S3
S3 is the third shredder DIN Standard security level and is an appropriate level of security when shredding confidential documents.
S4
S4 is the fourth shredder DIN Standard security level and offers an appropriate level of security when shredding highly confidential documents.
S5
S5 is the highest shredder DIN Standard security level and offers an appropriate level of security when shredding top secret documents.
Paper jam
Paper jamming can be caused by trying to shred too many sheets at once or thick sheets of paper.
Lift-off head
The lift-off head is design for ease-of-use and allows you to literally lift the head off your shredder in order to check and/or empty your shredder bin.
Slanted head bin
The slanted head bin is design for easy-of-use when your shredder is located under a desk.
Shredder bin
The shredder bin collects the shredded paper that has been passed through the shredder.
Shredder oil
Large shredders (such as the Departmental and Specialist shredders) benefit from oiling. The best way to oil a shredder is to spray Rexel shredder oil onto a piece of paper and place another piece of paper on top of it to create an 'oil sandwich' and then shred the paper as normal. Alternatively you can spray a small amount of oil on the entry width of the shredder as directed on the can.
